Astra Militarum Praetorian Schemes

Returning the Neo-British Imperialist back to the Imperial Guard

I have recently started playing Company of Heroes 2 and I became very inspired to finalise an Astra Militarum list, coincidentally around this time the whole brexit vote, much to my surprise, actually passed, Britain is on its way to leaving the EU. With plenty of fear induced paranoia of the complete collapse of the British economy I started to wonder what my contemporaries might have made of the situation in old Victorian Britain when it was the worlds most powerful economy and a global super power.

Of course the days of the British Empire are long over, partly due to the fact that they where a bunch of bastards to nearly every nation on the planet. Britain can now look to taking the moral high ground on all issues of the world with a slightly pataronising outlook on the "lesser" countries whilst still maintaining our outdated rituals in the royal family, legal system and underlying suspicion of foreigners - God Save the Queen!.

Now enough ranting bollocks and into the scheme. Along with the French I love the bold striking British imperial uniforms. Those were the days when men were men and despite the curly mustaches, institutionalised racism, copious tea drinking and running around a battlefield in a bright red jacket they had an absolute certainty in their cause to "civilize" the world and very few military powers even today could match their courage, bravery and determination in the face of certain death - perfect for the Xeno hating Imperial Guard!

The great thing about this scheme is its so simple. Use the GW standard imperial guard miniatures and grab some Pith Helmet heads. I used Victoria Miniatures.

Late 1800's "Anglo-Egyptian War Era" British Uniform. Basically just change the head.

Late 1800's "Zulu Era" British Uniform

Early 1800's "East India/Indian Mutiny Era" British Uniform
